The Ethics of Early Ontogeny - Growing

Sat, Aug 27, 2005; by Anthony.

Any ethics of ontogeny has massive implications for the legality and advancement of stem-cell science, medicine, reproductive methods and relationships, and women's rights. The ethics of ontogeny may be one of the most important ethics of the 21st century that not only concerns the longevity of individuals, but the future of the species as a whole. Yet current ethical disagreements are mainly concerned with the moral interpretation of the embryo; for example, whether it is wrong to destroy human embryos because they are potential persons. Such a narrow moral focus hinders the advancement of science and results in unnecessary suffering for human beings.
